Ori vidislavski – film composer
Ori Vidislavski was born and raised in Israel and graduated from the music academy in Tel-Aviv. He has been composing music for films, theatre and dance for over 20 years producing music for 150 different projects including full scores, music for theatre in classical, contemporary and original.
His father came from a well-know religious family and his mother from a Kibbutz. Through-out his childhood Vidislavski immersed his passion for music through influences of Jewish prayers, pioneer songs and classical music. His religious learning experience inspired him by way of the ability to heal oneself and the world around them through music.
Over the years, Vidislavski produced music for over 100 shows in theatre, among them are “Richard the III”, “As You Like It” and “The Merchant From Venice” by William Shakespeare. He also produced music for “Angels In America” by Tony Kushner, “A View From The Bridge” & “The Crucible” by Arthur Miller and “Yerma” by Frederico Garcia Lorca. Successfully, Vidislavski composed music for children’s concert for a popular Israeli poet with a symphonic orchestra and four singers. Vidislavski composed music for 20 dance choreographies full-length performances based entirely on his music, themes for TV shows, commercials and special events.
In 1980, Vidislavski earned Israel’s Oscar for best music in films for “Sheure” & “Aretz Hadasha”. He wrote the song “Winter of 73” in 1991 that became number one amongst the five most influencing songs in Israeli culture. His music is based on influencing all aspects of life, such as, contemporary life by merging Jewish, oriental motifs, Europeans and Americans together . The Israeli Composer Association honored Vidislavski composer of the year in 1993 and he won the highest prizes for modern dance and best music at the Acco Festival. During his professional musical career, Vidislavski has won scholarships, nominations and prizes for his music including Israeli National Theatre prize for composer of the year in 1997. >
Vidislavski continues with his musical masterpieces writing music for 12 original plays in “Beit Lessin” theatre between the years 2001 through 2007. He has written and produced “Mosiac” a world musical album in 2003 and “Avanta De Liba” healing music in 2005. Vidislavski has written music for commercials from 2002 through 2005 that include Diners, a credit card company, Commverse, a big event in Spain for the company’s employers from all over the world and many more.
Vidislavski's experience composing music for films and theatre made him one of Israel’s most dramatic composers as well as an artist who can “handle a scene".
Between 1990 and 1995, he founded a musical band called “Deiwan”, composed of five Arab musicians and five Jewish ones. The band was a pioneer in developing the ethnic music genre in Israel.
His musical style strives to merge all of the aspects making up contemporary life in Israel - Jewish and oriental motifs, European and American influences and the impossible tension between “the dream and the reality”, which is very hard to abide by.
